Damntingself

If a Trini exclaims “... that's the damntingself!” she means “... that's it!”, “... that's exactly what I was looking for!” or “... that's the real McCoy!”

The damntingself design is the truest to the actual instrument – without being a miniature. It features a full concave playing surface with convex notes, and a skirt around the edge. Of all the PanIsMe designs, this is the one that says “that is a pan!”

Quiz

Carnival Tuesday. Music pumping. People jumping. Blazing sun. Throat parched. Friend with cooler. Ice cold beer.

Your response? Complete the following sentence:

That is the _______ !!!

(a) bee's knees   (b) cat's whiskers   (c) damntingself

Surface

The surface is to a pan as the strings are to a violin – the source of the sound.

In the art of traditional steelpan making the surface goes through an extraordinary transformation in the hands of skilled artisans. It starts life as the very ordinary face of a 55 gal oil drum and at the end of a ten step process emerges as the key component of a remarkable and versatile soul warming instrument.

The surface design features the full concave playing surface with convex notes – without the skirt

Void

“The void is no mere emptiness, but is real, free and existing. It is the source from which all things arise and return. It cannot be seen, touched or known, yet it exists and is freely used ...”   Bruce Lee

The void design featues a concave playing surface with the notes represented by voids, and a skirt around the edge.

Essence

Essence: the intrinsic nature or indispensable quality of a thing, especially something abstract, that determines its character.

The essence design featues a concave playing surface with the notes represented by voids - without a skirt. The design reveals the skeleton of the playing surface.
